December 6th Race Report + Photos
We made it! The final round of the year! A huge thank you to all our competitors who took part in our race events. From watching great battles to seeing newcomers improve on their previous results to witnessing the camaraderie off track, you guys make the Slideways events what they are and its been a pleasure!
This round would see a mix up of the category order and it was the Opens who were first on track to try and take top spot! Always at the pointy end Alex Jacovides managed to edge out his closest rival Liam Hydes by 0.017 seconds to take pole with a lap of 40.626. First time Slideways event entrant but no stranger to racing Ben Wilson rounded out the top 3. It was awesome to see Tom Gittings, Justin Holland, Chloe Buck and Robert Hovey all improve on their last round qualifying results. Race 1 and the top 3 remain unchanged with Alex Jacovides putting a 3 second gap to Liam Hydes and Ben Wilson 5 seconds behind Liam. Clayton Hydes managed to climb up 3 spots to take 5th with the rest of the field remaining unchanged.
Race 2 and the chook lotto would be cruel to Race 1 winner Alex Jacovides sending him down the order to start in 6th. Ben Wilson made the most of a wide line from Clayton Hydes to cease a gap and clinch 1st. Liam Hydes would manage to get past his Dad to take 2nd with Clayton Hydes sealing 3rd. Justin Holland would hold out Alex Jacovides whilst Tom Gittings just edged out Chloe Buck in their duel.
Race 3 and the final race for the year! Liam Hydes would start on pole with Ben Wilson hot on his heels and Alex Jacovides right behind! Lap 2 and Ben Wilson would get a good run out of the final corner to pull side by side with Liam Hydes on the pit straight. Both drivers went into turn 1 fiercely with Ben Wilson getting the upper hand. This move gave Alex Jacovides a chance to follow suit and he did not waste it. Liam was determined to pass back but Alex played it smart putting his Go Kart in all the right places. This would play out all the way to the chequered flag. Chloe Buck had a ripper race making up 2 spots to finish 5th.

Cadets went out for their qualifying ready to race, literally! A “battle pack” ensued which is a sure fire way to not be able to achieve a quick lap time. Thinking on his toes Luke Wilson opted to drop back to clear some space and try set a flyer. And fly he did setting a 46.763 this how ever would not be enough as it was Alexander Nicolaysen who would have the final say pipping Lukes time just before the session end setting a 46.728 just .035 seconds ahead of Luke! Ellie Wilson would round out the top 3 with a time of 46.862. Race 1 and unfortunately Alexander Nicolaysen would be on the bad end of some sloppy wheel work by Luke Wilson putting Alexander into the wall. This would see Luke penalised with a time penalty relegating him down to 5th. Ellie Wilson would cease this moment and claim 1st with Toby Pearson and Daniel Sullivan taking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Race 2 and by all accounts it would be a nice tidy race with everyone on their A game. After a chook lotto draw Race 1 winner Ellie Wilson would start 4th on the grid meaning Dylan Kammerlocher would start 1st with Daniel Sullivan and Toby Pearson following. This grid order would stay the same all the way to the flag! Race 3 and Ellie Wilson would start on pole, on her chase for her first ever round finish in first she put her head down and set out to put a gap on the rest of the field. Ellie would manage to put on this gap with help from Toby Pearson holding off attack from Dylan Kammerlocher. In another display of how far this cadet field has improved Race 3 was much like race 2 with everyone playing a hard but fair race!

The hotly contested Juniors field would once again heat up and it was Jude Livermore throwing first shots qualifying on pole with a time of 40.366. Luc Jacobsen would take 2nd and Carter Skewes would round out 3rd. Race 1 and Jude Livermore put his head down to gap himself from his fellow competitors. Luc Jacobsen would drop down 2 places meaning Carter Skewes and Adam Rathbone would finish the top 3. Jordyn Durrington, Zachary Naylor and Harrison Wickham would all improve on their qualifying by jumping up 2 spots through the race. Race 2 and the chook lotto would as always mix things up. With Jude Livermore finishing 5th, Liam Hayward would start on pole and he was not going to let anyone take that 1st place spot from him. Liam raced out to a commanding lead of 5 seconds to 2nd place Luc Jacobsen who was holding off attacks from Adam Rathbone and Carter Skewes. Race 3 and it was a return of the rat pack with Jude Livermore leading Luc Jacobsen, Carter Skewes and Liam Hayward. There was dicing and defending as nothing could separate these drivers as they tried their shot at one final race win before the years end! The top 4 would remain unchanged how ever and Jude Livermore took his 2nd win for the day!
