Race Report – Round 1 (September 13th)
We are so delighted to bring back the Slideways Go Karting Race Events! We can’t thank everyone who competed and came out and supported enough! With all categories selling out it was a strong showing with some great battles being had!
Cadets kicked the morning off with their 5 lap Qualifying! It was a case of the usual suspects up front. Daniel Sullivan put himself on pole with a cracking 46.578 just edging out Ellie Wilson with a 46.657 and Luke Wilson who had a 46.879. The fact the top 3 were only separated by 3 tenths of a second just shows how close these Cadets are racing!
Race 1 saw Ellie Wilson make an awesome start to get the jump on Daniel Sullivan into turn 1. From there on she held her lead to the finish line with Daniel Sullivan not finding a way to get past. Luke Wilson held onto his 3rd and even set the fastest lap in the race with a 46.479!
With a chook lotto to mix up the grid for Race 2 it was Luke Wilson who took advantage claiming 1st. Daniel Sullivan remained consistent holding off 2nd from Dylan Kammerlocher who took his first podium for the day! Race 3 rewarded Daniel Sullivan for his consistency at the top end by placing him on pole. Daniel managed a lights to flag victory not allowing Luke Wilson to pass after the pair broke away from the main pack, Ellie Wilson rounded out the podium with 3rd.

Juniors had a field of 15 drivers which was awesome to see! Luc Jacobsen wasted no time defending his Go Karting World Round win from earlier in the year by claiming pole with a 40.392. Liam Hayward followed with a 40.743 and Jude Livermore rounded out the top 3 with a 40.964.
Race 1 saw Jude Livermore work his way through hard chargers Liam Hayward & Luc Jacobsen to grab the top spot! Once again the chook lotto mixed things up for race 2 and this time it was the brother combo of Pierce Rathbone & Adam Rathbone who took on the podium coming 1st and 3rd respectively, Carter Skewes managed to squeeze into the Rathbone sandwhich coming 2nd! Race 3 would see Jude Livermore flex his muscle by putting himself in the lead by 3 seconds. Carter Skewes also managed to put a nice gap of just under 4 seconds to the 3rd place Luc Jacobsen.

Moving onto the Opens it was refreshing to see so many new and familiar faces competing! The field had a staggering 19 entries! With dark clouds lingering qualifying kicked off with Liam Hydes making full use of recent seat time to claim pole with a 41.018. Robert Fernandez nestled himself into 2nd place with a 41.252 just narrowly edging out Alex Jacovides by 6 thousandths who had a time of 41.258. Race 1 would see Alex Jacovides get past Robert Fernandez on the opening lap and subsequently Liam Hydes putting on a significant gap to his counterparts. Christian Bishop would move up from 4th to claim 2nd and Liam Hydes would round out the podium with 3rd! Race 2 and the chook lotto would mix things up nicely. Ben Hutchins would claim his first podium of the day and would be joined by Christian Bishop and Brodie Smith respectively. The last race of the day would see Christian Bishop start on pole with Alex Jacovides and Liam Hydes behind. In a true display of defensive determination Christian held off the attacking combo of Alex Jacovides and Liam Hydes to seal the round win!
