Slideways Junior/Cadet Sprint Series
2. Meeting Location:
Slideways – Go Karting World
232 Old Pacific Highway, Pimpama.
3. Meeting Dates:

4. General Regulations & Notes:
4.1: Categories to be contested:
(a) Cadets – ages 7 to 11 years old, and at least 120cm tall – Weight boxes not utilised.
(b) Juniors – ages 12 to 15 years old, and at least 145cm tall – Weight boxes utilised.
4.1.1: Weight boxes;
(a) All Junior drivers will be weighed during sign on, the weights from all drivers will be averaged to determine the minimum weight required for the day.
(b) All drivers below the average will have weights added to their kart prior to each of their races.
(c) The weight to be added is rounded to the nearest 2.5kg.
4.2: In the year of change of age (from 14 to 15 years), the driver can choose to race in the Junior Series, Adult/Ladies Sprint Series, or both. Slideways reserves the ultimate right to allocate drivers to the most suitable category, based on age, height, safety and insurance considerations.
4.3: Entry numbers may be capped at a minimum of one grid per category:
(a) Cadets – 10 – 12 pre-paid entries, minimum 15 for second grid.
(b) Junior category – 20 pre-paid entries, minimum 30 for second grid.
4.4: Slideways reserves to right to cap numbers as per section 4.3 following the cut off from early bird entries, see section 12.1.
4.5: The events count towards the Sodi World Series.
4.6: Slideways utilise the Sodi World Series system for its season point score.
4.7: In the event of wet weather, the race may be postponed.
5. Compulsory Sign On:
5.1: It is compulsory that all drivers must sign on prior to the drivers briefing in the time allocated.
5.2: Sign on will open 45 minutes prior to the drivers briefing, 30 minutes for morning events. Sign on will close 5 minutes prior to the drivers briefing.
6. Compulsory Drivers Briefing:
6.1: It is Compulsory that all drivers attend the drivers briefing.
6.2: The drivers briefing will commence at the specified time, regardless of whether everyone has arrived or not.
6.2.1: In the event a driver misses the briefing, they will start their next race from the rear of grid.
6.3: All officials will be introduced, followed by the covering of all penalties and procedures at this briefing.
6.4: Special mention will also be made of the CRO (Competitor Relations Officer) who is the nominated point of contact for all competitors. They are in place to help and assist you. This role carries no official capacity, and effectively they are a middle man between competitors and officials. They will be located within the pit lane area.
7. Race Format:
7.1: All drivers will draw a random number out of a bucket, this is to be their grid position for the first race.
7.1.1: The second race will be reverse order of the drawn grid.
7.1.2: For the final race, points will be combined from the previous two races to determine the grid order.
7.2: In the event of tied points for the final race, grid position will be allocated by fastest time from the previous two races.
7.2.1: In the event of tied times, the second fastest time will be used to allocate grid position.
7.3: Fastest lap times may be disallowed if the driver has contravened Slideways rules, for example, the time was achieved while driving through a yellow flag zone.
7.7: Karts will be allocated on a random basis for all sessions/races.
7.8: The chosen race order for each category is designed to limit down time throughout the day, Cadets will alternate with Juniors to speed up transitions.
8. Racing Regulations:
8.1: Race commencement is scheduled immediately after the drivers briefing.
(a) Drivers ready – Green flag raised above starters head while proceeding to front of grid.
(b) 5 seconds – Green flag raised from side of track.
(c) Race Start (Green flag waved/lights on).
(d) Race is scheduled 10minutes – 12 laps for Juniors, 10 laps for Cadets.
8.2: All radio communication devices are not allowed. Pit boards may be utilised.
8.3: Trophies will be awarded by combined total points from all three races, to the top three drivers for the day.
8.3.1: In the event of a tie in combined points the position for the day will be awarded by fastest lap time in the final race only.
9. Officials & Driver/Team Conduct:
9.1: All judicial matters at this race event will be managed by a CofC (Clerk of Course) whom will be nominated by Slideways.
9.2: The CofC will also act as Judge of Fact, their decision being final.
9.3: The CofC also has the power to utilise the kart controller or impose a time penalty after the event’s conclusion if deemed appropriate. For further details on other penalties that may be applied by the CofC, see sections 10.1 and 10.2.
9.4: Bad sportsmanship, disrespect or threatening behavior shown towards the CofC, any Slideways staff, any competitor, team member, spectator, driver or their associates, at the event, or in any form of social media before, during or after the event, will likely result in the driver’s instant exclusion from events at Slideways.
(a) Slideways reserves the rights to ban ANY individual or group from its facilities.
(b) Please also note that zero tolerance is given for anyone leaving the facility after the event (or any other time) doing burnouts etc. This is council owned land – please have some respect for our licensed agreement. Police will be notified instantly for failure to comply with this very simple request.
9.5: All queries during the race must be directed to the CRO, who will liaise any relevant info to the CofC.
10. Flags/Lights & Signs:
10.1: Black flag (or board) means RETURN TO PITS, if any driver is given the black flag (or board) they MUST pit within two laps to rectify the issue – no exceptions. Additional penalties or kart control may be utilised if black flags are ignored.
10.2: Likely causes to incur a black flag:
– “stop and go” pit lane penalty issued by CofC to redress one of the following or other item:
– unsporting passing manoeuvre.
– excessive blocking or weaving.
– seat belt not done up properly.
– loose clothing, presenting danger.
– long hair exposed, presenting danger.
– visor has come adrift of helmet.
– kart seat cover exposed, causing danger.
– any safety issue not listed here.
– CofC reserves the right to issue as required.
Under ANY of the above circumstances the race WILL NOT BE STOPPED for a competitor’s benefit at any time.
10.3: Blue flags – you are being lapped, move to the outside of the track and let the faster drivers through without impeding their pace. Failure to do so in a sporting manner, or which results in an incident may cause you to receive the black flag.
10.4: Yellow flag/lights – NO PASSING, caution ahead, raise one hand until past the scene (likely spun driver, or a marshal on track). Failure to adhere to this may incur a black flag.
10.5: Red flag/lights – NO PASSING, raise one hand. waving it and come to a stop as soon as possible (but not abruptly). Failure to do so in a sporting manner, or which results in an incident may cause you to receive the black flag.
10.6: Green flag/lights – Race commencement, restart, track clear of incident.
10.7: Chequered flag – Completion of race, drivers slowly return to the pit area.
10.8: No bumping sign – First warning, you are driving in an unfair manner, if this continues you will receive the last warning sign.
10.9: Last warning sign – You are about to receive the black flag for bumping or excessive blocking.
11. Kart Issues or Breakdown:
11.1: A massive effort is always undertaken to ensure all karts are benchmark tested and equal as possible for all events, with a 0.2sec lap time tolerance the target.
11.2: In the event of a breakdown or stoppage – all endeavors are taken to make the situation as fair as possible FOR ALL CONCERNED, this is always Slideways top priority, but please note – incidents and or mechanical failures, can happen.
11.3: Circumstances causing the issue of stoppage or breakdown will always be taken into consideration when determining the process of play at this point. The time and availability of solutions to remedy such issues fairly for all competitors concerned is has always put Slideways as an industry benchmark.
(a) However, motorsport relies on the “mechanical element” and as such, anything driven without “mechanical sympathy” can be broken – no warranty is implied or given to any such outcome, but Slideways will do its best to ensure fairness to all.
(b) Slideways has limited its capacity of entries to this event to create the fairest solution in the rare occurrence of breakdown by having at least two karts available as spares, if the situation arises. Slideways will also have at least two experienced mechanics on hand at all times.
(c) In unforeseen circumstances, there is a possibility that these spare karts may not be readily available at times, in this instance all endeavors to sort the situation fairly will be taken. Again, no warranty is implied or given to any such outcome being to your own personal satisfaction.
(d) Slideways will do everything possible to ensure all competitors received a fair run.
11.4: The final judgement in these situations will always be made for the betterment of the entire competitor group by the CofC.
(a) Pause Race – Red flag/light.
A kart has stopped on track due to mechanical failure.
(a1) if a mechanical issue occurs and a spare kart is available in exchange, it will be brought to the place where the replacement kart stopped, once the kart is then exchanged the race will return green.
(a2) If no kart is available, the onsite mechanics will give further advice to the CofC and advise of timeframes, it is the decision of the CofC to continue to pause the race, or if the race should then continue.
12. Nominations/Opening of Entries:
12:1 Entries $95 per driver. If purchased before the specified early bird date, the driver will receive one free practice session which can be used on either of the two business days (Mon – Fri) prior to the event from 4pm – 8pm and 6pm – 8pm on Academy Training days.
12.1.1: Free early bird practice sessions are a normal 10-minute session, they may not be used at another venue or for Academy Training.
12.2: Entries open following on from the previous event
12.2.1: Entries/payments close midnight the night before, provided places are available.
12.2.2: Entries are only confirmed once full payment is received. To secure your spot on the grid, we recommend getting your payment in early.
12.3: Cancellation of race entries within 48 hours of the scheduled race time will result in all prior payments forfeited.
13. Acceptance of all event regulations:
Slideways reserves the right to alter the rules of racing. Any changes to the racing regulations will be communicated prior to the commencement of the race.
Your participation at this event from this moment forward is taken as acknowledgement, acceptance & understanding of all the Event Regulations that are covered herein.
You also acknowledge that motor racing can and will be dangerous, and accept the associated risks that your presence at this event is exposed to today.
If you do not agree with any of this or feel ‘unsafe’ for any reason, you are entitled notify the person on the counter that effective immediately you do not wish to compete at these arranged race events, fill out the refund form with your full name & details which will be duly processed.
